Charlie Brudenell

Now, I know you were a bit of a spaz but I guess that's why we all loved you so much. Even those who only met you a few times always asked after you; you left that much of an impression.

I guess that's why it hurt so much when we had to say goodbye. That was Thursday. A few days on and I've realised that you're much better off now. Your eyes on those last few days were so damn sad that it almost broke my heart. Yet you still purred like a fiend every time you woke up.

The vet said that your liver should have been functioning between a level of 10 and 60. We were all pretty much stunned when your results came out at 745. You poor little sod. Yet you never grumbled. Which is a shame really. If you'd grumbled we might have caught it in time to do something about it. But it wasn't meant to be.

The house feels pretty empty without you. Although it's kinda nice to urinate in peace. I'm not exactly sure where your toilet fetish arose from, but being scrutinised every time I went for a pee was a little disconcerting.

Quirkiness. I think that's what I'll remember most about you. That, and your passion for cardboard boxes.

Rest well, Mr. Charlie.
