so, she was the seventh

My paternal Grandmother comes from a family of thirteen children. My Paternal Grandfather also stems from a family with thirteen children. It's a given fact that, when all is said and done, we have a pretty big family.

One of my Grandmother's sisters, Peggy, died recently. Today was her funeral.

It was one of those bizarre Catholic affairs that seem to go on forever. There were prayers, readings, the casting of holy water, transubstantiation via bread and wine and then, finally, the offering of her soul to God.

She was interred alongside her husband Charles at a little after midday. The sun managed to break through just enough to light her last minutes and then it attempted to snow.

She was one of those Aunts who always used to pinch my cheeks. She'd grab hold of me and draw me in whilst cooing about me being a wickedly handsome young man.
