The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning
Tonight, against my better judgment, I watched 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning'. Despite being mildly distracted by the pretty opening credits, I began to lose interest within the first quarter. By half-time I was wishing that they'd just get on with it; get the killing done and then I can go and make myself a nice cup of tea, possibly a sandwich. But, as with most films of its ilk, things were dragged out until the bitter end. With a not too surprising conclusion.
To be honest, I wasn't too impressed. Sure, there were some decent shots, some finely detailed scenery and props and the overall visual was pleasant on the eye. But it just didn't gel together for me. It lacked the guts of a good horror. Even the jiggly titties couldn't rescue it. Not even when they got wet.
One good thing about the movie though: the website! You can have literally minutes of fun playing with the downloadable sound effects. It's a real treat!
Not really a massacre, more of a bloody amble.
